Earlier on wednesday 03 april, Whatsapp released a new feature which allows users to control who can add them to group chats. Before now, when you are being add to a group that you don’t want, you only have the option of leaving, exiting the group.
Most people get highly pissed when they are being added to a group without their permission, and most of these groups are likely being feed with fake information. The major reason for this improvement is to minimize the level on which fake news/ information are being spread.
How Can I Stop Users From Inviting Me To A Group?
First before this, you need to update your whatsapp application to the latest version.
Then follow these steps:
- Open the WhatsApp app
- Go to Account options
- Select Privacy
- Then Groups
- Select either Nobody, My Contacts, or Everyone
Everyone: will let anyone add you to a group without asking you for permission.
My Contacts: this means that it will limit group-adding to people in your phone contacts (only people saved on your contacts) – forcing everyone else to invite you first.
Nobody: will require everyone to ask for your permission before you can be added to a group.
If you don’t see the option for Groups settings, you might have to wait a bit because this feature have just be released today 03 April 2019.
